How to Choose Your RV Site at Desert Drifter
Choosing an RV site starts with matching the space to your rig. At Desert Drifter RV Resort in Yucca Valley, our site options have different dimensions, surfaces, and electrical service. A little checking before you reserve can save a lot of rearranging when you arrive.
Use this guide to compare our full hookup RV sites near Joshua Tree, then confirm the details of the exact site you plan to book.
Start with your actual measurements
Write down your RV's overall length and width, including the room needed for slide-outs. For a travel trailer, know its overall length including the hitch, and consider where the tow vehicle will park after unhitching. Remember any rear accessories that add to your footprint.
A listed pad dimension describes the space; it does not automatically establish a maximum permitted RV length or guarantee that every combination of RV and vehicle will fit. Door access, slide-outs, utility placement, and parking all matter.
Compare the site options
- Premium perimeter sites 9 and 10: 25 feet wide by 80 feet deep; 20, 30, and 50 amp electrical service.
- Gravel RV sites: 25 feet wide by 80 feet deep; 20, 30, and 50 amp electrical service.
- Concrete RV pad: 25 feet wide by 33 feet deep; 20, 30, and 50 amp electrical service.
- Economy paved pad: 12 feet wide by 26 feet deep; 20 and 30 amp electrical service.
Water and sewer connections are listed with these site types. Our RV sites are back-in spaces. Premium perimeter sites 9 and 10 are advertised with additional shade and only one neighboring RV site. Check the RV sites page for the current descriptions.
Match electrical service to your RV
Check your RV's power requirements before choosing a site. The smaller economy pad lists 20- and 30-amp service, while the other options above list 20-, 30-, and 50-amp service.
If you are unsure which connection your RV needs, consult its documentation or rental provider before booking. Choosing a site that suits your equipment is easier than trying to resolve a mismatch at arrival.
Plan for vehicles and outdoor space
Think about how you will use the site after parking. Will you have a separate vehicle for exploring? Do you want room to sit outside? Will a bike rack or cargo carrier affect access around the rig?
Read the parking allowance on the individual listing. Our booking descriptions distinguish between site types, so do not assume the same vehicle arrangement applies everywhere. Include your guests and vehicles accurately when checking the reservation total.
Confirm fit before you reserve
If the choice is close, contact us with your RV type, overall dimensions, electrical needs, number of vehicles, and travel dates. A useful message is: Our trailer is 28 feet overall with one slide-out, and we will have a separate tow vehicle. Which available site would suit that setup?
Once you have selected your space, keep your site assignment and arrival instructions handy. Pack your hookup equipment where you can reach it without unloading the whole RV, and follow the equipment manufacturer's setup instructions.
